...hi DhB - no, the auction is where the SP for the day is closed via a process of 'matching' - some players have an interest in keepin the SP down , others in seeing it high depending on their trading strategy ... i like to see the volumes in the auction as it gives me a feel for how much the SP is being held up/down or neutral which plays into SP direction for the following day - the same price matching auction happens in the morning too - quite odd things happen in it but remember, this is all about establishing an opening and closing price ...
