re: lsg/kcn/oxr - for acturtle Not just US investors, many investors worldwide are pulling out of the US markets. They need to find other places to place their money. The whole reason $US has been so strong in the past is because everyone has believed in the US economy as a relative safe-haven. Now with stocks performing badly and the economy shaky, and very low interest rates, the inflated $US is feeling the pinch.

Australia, being a commodity-based country, should feel some flow on effect from the increase in gold price. I havent looked closely at currency rates but the AUS$ doesn't seem to have performed exceedingly well against other currencies, just the $US. It's interesting how eyes are always only on the $AUS versus $US.
