"Lithium stocks have been amongst the best-performing resource stocks on the ASX over the past couple of years. Just ask anyone who invested in the $1.6 billion lithium developer Pilbara Minerals (ASX: PLS) at one of our Resources Rising Stars investor luncheons three-and-a-half years ago.
Perth-based Liontown Resources is aiming to follow in the footsteps of some of its highly-rated lithium peers, having just embarked on a potentially game-changing lithium exploration push in 2018 aimed at unlocking the potential of its high-quality asset portfolio in Western Australia.
Drilling commenced at the Kathleen Valley Lithium Project in the Northern Goldfields of WA in January, where previous exploration had returned results of up to 58m grading 1.2% lithium oxide (Li2O).
Initial results from the Phase 2 drilling have confirmed the presence of high-grade spodumene mineralisation over a significant strike length at both the Mt Mann and Kathleen’s Corner targets, with further in-fill drilling planned to underpin the completion of a maiden Mineral Resource estimate.
At the Buldania Lithium Project located near Norseman in WA, drilling kicked off in mid-February to drill beneath spodumene-bearing pegmatites where previous rock chip sampling returned grades of up to 4.6% Li2O.
Between these two projects, Liontown is set to generate plenty of action and news-flow over the next 12 months."
