Again you have a short term and narrow focussed viewpoint. The future is very very lengthy indeed. Just like shorts leech unearned wealth from $2.50 down as you point out, longs can buy in as early as they like and hold out for massive profits, without needing to pay interest on borrowed shares for their long term ownership.
