Hi, I am trying to get hard figures on the auto take up of lithium so hype doesn't cloud the picture. 63 kg of lithium is used in a Tesla. So working on a resource of 1 tonne it should make 16 Teslas. 1 million tonne resource= 16 million Teslas. 20 million resource = 320 million Teslas. Now I assume there is some loss in refinement of the ore and the 63 kg is refined ore, perhaps 5%. It is quoted on metal market sites that there is enough discovered lithium to last to 2050, that includes lithium from salt deposits I guess. How the lithium is spread between all the applications will be interesting to see how in pans out. Recovery of the lithium from the millions of batteries has not been solved yet as it needs to be 99.99% to be reused, but I assume that will be solved. Lead from lead/acid batt is the techeries has a 90% recovery.Panasonic is the tech company handling Tesla batteries so they are no doubt working on the recycling which probably hasn't happened in a large quantity yet. There is a good case for a lithium exporters organisation so best use is made of a limited resource.Already rare earths are being used as a political tool. Getting back to LTR, they will probably end up with 50+ million tonnes of lithium, enough for 800 million Teslas! If my figures are way out, please point out the errors
