Exactly. A couple of scenarios can happen.
They will be re-used If lets say a brand new Tesla crashes, but no damage was done to battery/was deemed OK after testing.
Once the battery has been discharged and charged to the point that is no longer efficient, they will need to be recycled properly due to hazards and the fact there is expensive materials that shouldnt be wasted.
There will be recycling stations at your local wreckers/scrap dealer etc that will probably pay a small amount, just like the lead batteries of today.
