It's so stupid that because the 'old testament', and writers of the time expressed their disgust for Pigs, certain religious groups refuse to eat any pork products even today. The problem with pig/swine is that it has only been in recent times (era-wise) that the curing/preparation of pig has been able to eradicate the parasites that have always presented the problem with it's meat. When these problems were put into words a couple of thousand years ago, I'm sure that they would have eaten pig if it was safe from parasites. So the lucky little pig has had somewhat of a breather over the ages due to ignorance amongst certain groups. Religions will always get the cold shoulder from me if they consider archaic practices or writings should be strictly adhered to and/or believed.
