How civilised is it to kill an animal, a living being that has feelings of contentment, pleasure, pain and fear? How civilised is it to then eat it? Maybe in its preparation add all the trimmings?
As you eat your steak or hamburger spare a thought for the life you have killed. Spare a thought for the poor animal that are are now chewing at and swallowing, the poor animal that had as much right to life as you. Some people would say devouring it is barbaric, whether it be pigs or any other living animal.
Some people have argued that when humankind is truly civilised no animals will be killed and eaten. All humans will be vegetarians. The killing and eating of an animal will be viewed in the same disgusting way as we now think of cannibalism.
