    I was watching the close match on Thursday;

    ..at 4:00 p.m. the last SP was 40.5 the bid was 40.5 and the ask was 44
    ..at about 4:05 the bid was 44 for about 8,000 shares and the ask was 44 for about the same number of shares; match and deal done so the close on the day would have been 44
    .. at about 4:07 another ask entered at 42.5 for all of the shares on offer so the deal was done and AXP was 42.5 at the close.

    There are only 2 reasons for this trade:

    1. A shareholder decided that he/she would sell 8,000 shares at the end of the quarter if AXP did not show any propensity to recover from recent doldrums - problem is that trade could have been done at 43.5 - now $80 (1 cent for 8,000 shares) is not much but that deal pissed it into the wind

    2. Somebody wanted the SP to be as low as possible so did the trade at 42.5 ...

    The last trade makes no sense! I'm generally not a conspiracy theorist but it looked like somebody wanted to beat the AXP SP down! Why?
