Whilst we can't compare ALL modern history of rampant inflation to that which existed during events such as the Weimar Republic, I certainly remember a number of occasions when inflation got out of hand in the Western world, and especially in Australia e.g.

1983 - 10.0%
1982 - 11.4%
1981 - 9.5%
1980 - 10.1%
1979 - 9.1%
1977 - 12.3% and especially in:
1976 - 13.3%
1975 - 15.2%
1974 - 15.4%
