IG capped their HDR CFD positions with Guaranteed Stops (GS) a few weeks back and raised the margin to 15%. You can still open new HDR standard account positions with no GS. I checked today and they have just reduced the margin back to 10%. They have also capped their positions on OSH with GS and raised the margin to 15%.

All other CFDs as far as I know are still at the standard 10% margin. But if you use a GSO then you can achieve close to a 5% margin. I don't believe rates are different online or buy phone. Is it possible that the phone order was with a GS and the online without??

Professional rate is definitely the go if you are trading frequently and large volume.

We are likely to get better and better conditions as more players enter the CFD market - now 3 with CMC, IG and Man Financial and I believe there's another group just starting up.
