    "Tough luck. There are plenty of businesses that were once profitable and now are not. If you aren't capable of adapting to the surrounding circumstances and remain profitable then you will be forced out of business. Deal with it."

    Nice attitude there mate - good bye small business then. Often land taxes can change far more quickly than a business can adapt to the new circumstances. At least income taxes are based on what you earn - whereas unjust and unfair land taxes are based on a perceived value of the property you own and even worse is cumulative based on the total amount of land you own.

    "It's a great idea. Let those who can generate sufficient income from the land own it."

    The only ones that think it is a good idea are the ones that don't have to pay for it - it is nothing more than a wealth tax except it affects far more than the wealthy.
