I imagine the FIRB would have something to say about a foreign takeover, much like they gave the thumbs down for a takeover bid for LYC.
Particularly as it is rare earths.
I believe with the US (major allies) and Europe nominating RE's as strategically important for military security (among other uses), i don't think Australia will believe it is in our best interests to allow China to continue their monopoly.
Just my 2c.
