Contrary.J I like your posts and comments and they make interesting reading. Yes the NdPr price has increased sharply over the last month BUT it is not speculation. The price increase is being driven by a stepwise structural change in the REE industry. Principally three factors are driving it:
    1. Termination of illegal mining in China which makes about 30% of current supply.
    2. Inflexible supply structure caused by the above and lack of investment by Chinese SOEs in REE capacity development because of low prices
    3. And the big cherry on the cake, REO DEMAND. The modern world simply cannot function without REEs and the future is about considerably more technology NOT less. REE demand is already VERY STRONG and just going to get stronger. Surely ContraryJ you believe this?
The REE SUPPLY deficit (only in N, P,D to name a few) will drive NrPr prices to a new level where supply & demand eventually balance. In the REE world new supply takes considerable time, cash & expertise to bring on line so we could be in for a period of sustained higher prices. Maybe 5-10 years.
One interesting fact it that the New F35 fighter uses 500kgs of REE's. If (God forbid) Trump takes the world to war what do you think will happen to REE prices?
