mwehl - good to see you taking the initiative and emailing someone who might actually communicate with you. Many here have emailed Lynas, not asking for inside information, but really just asking Lynas to communicate more with shareholders via ASX announcements, but all receive the same template response: "...understand your frustration...waiting for TOL...have a squiz at the quarterly report".
Lynas have been quoted numerous times by various news sites providing dates / timeframes for LAMP complete, expected startup etc, and the dates come and go with no explanation for the delays. Why do shareholders have to pour through threads on hotcopper and random news sites for information pertinent to their investment? No wonder they feel the need to email AELB directly.
Also, I really don't understand why the whole process is shrouded in secrecy and why people think Lynas should walk on eggshells around the Malaysian government, AELB etc in case they decide to delay things further. Lynas is adding 1% GDP to Malaysia, is employing 300 Malaysian workers, potentially providing a springboard in Malaysia for other green technology companies, were invited there in the first place, have jumped through a gazillion hoops and still no TOL.
Couple things worth noting too:
- AELB response to your email:
"This will be done only after Lynas has submitted all necessary information"
- Lynas' announcement on the 20th:
"Lynas looks forward to the finalisation of the AELB’s requirements in relation to those conditions"
Taken together, these statements suggest AELB has received the initial submission from Lynas, but AELB has asked for more detail, which is fine.
