    Apart from anything else Thorpe's position on what a future Coalition government might do to The Voice is logically incoherent. A government legally can ignore or neuter The Voice if it passes at referendum. What the government can't do is abolish it as they did with ATSIC. If the referendum succeeds the political reality would be that the government of the day would need to at least put on a pretence of taking The Voice seriously, or suffer the self inflicted political wound of being seen to ignore the constitutionally enshrined will of the people.
