Ausheds, thank you for your explanation and I can see now why Yeo was able to do what she wanted with impunity. Seems the cards were stacked against LYC at the start. An adverse report gets relayed in full. A positive report gets hijacked and edited. As you have stated, this is not the way to do business in the international arena.
Pimpel I can see, and appreciate. your point of view, but expediency sets a dangerous precedent. However I would have thought that not even the Minister has the authority to unilateraly change an written agreement between the Government and Industry; and that particular agreement provides for repatriating tailings as a third option. If the Malaysian Government reneges on an international written agreement that is not a good omen for future private investment in the country.
