Your point is interesting. We do know that Lynas started it and MP either turned it down out right or ask for terms way beyond what Lynas wanted so it died quickly. If it is the correct thing to do the companies will come to terms. If it is not correct and it happens because the USG wants it, I guarantee it will be disaster.Excellent point. What is the advantage of having two monopolies one in China and one in the rest of the world. thinking of your point it is very unliky this merger could be approved in US because it would create a ROW monopoly.
