Some good links for all interested; good to the last as well.

REMAINS to be seen how all this gov-love works out and for who at what cost and risk.

Sounds like Lynas is preparing to recreate something very similar to the LAMP in WA.

However, I'll go two better: I FULLY EXPECT 4 KILNS in four years in Kal; clearly just a logical opinion.

That's only if the government does in fact make good on their promises, does in fact step forward with help in all nuclear and environmental permitting requirements without unduly influencing the planning etc.

The page below is from the just-opened ...

    Critical Minerals
    Facilitation Office

    Main content area

The Critical Minerals Facilitation Office is the government’s (new, Jan2020) central coordination point to help grow Australia’s critical minerals sector and position Australia globally as a secure and reliable supplier of critical minerals.

Critical minerals are metals and non-metals vital to the well-being of global economies, yet vulnerable to disruptions in supply. This can be due to geological scarcity, geopolitical issues, trade policy or other factors. Australia has an abundance of many critical minerals essential to advanced technology applications for digital communication, clean energy, transport and defence industries. For example, smartphones, computers, solar panels and electric vehicles. Read Geoscience Australia’s information on critical minerals.

Growing our sector and supporting more robust global supply chains

The global critical minerals supply chain is dependent on geographically concentrated supply chains overseas, particularly in downstream processing. This lack of diversity poses potential risks for Australia.

Growing the sector in Australia is in our economic interest. It will boost trade, create jobs and increase competition and choice. Australia has the opportunity to be a global leader in the ethical and environmentally responsible supply of key critical minerals. See Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategy.

Our role in growing the sector

Growing Australia’s critical minerals sector requires a focused and collaborative effort across industry and governments.

The Critical Minerals Facilitation Office is leading Australia’s efforts by:

    • working with state and territory governments, regulators, industry and investors to strengthen the sector
    • providing national policy and strategic advice on critical minerals
    • working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Austrade to promote and identify critical mineral investment and off-take opportunities
    • working with other countries to address supply chain risks and promote ethical sustainable practice
    • supporting research and development to improve critical mineral extraction, processing and recycling methods
    • ensuring Australia’s policy and regulatory settings support investment in the sector and unlock downstream opportunities
    • working with Geoscience Australia to understand Australia’s critical mineral resource potential
    • improving access to information on regulatory approvals, funding and investment
    • facilitating strategically important critical minerals projects, including those that have the potential to deliver new separation and processing capacity in Australia
