Any kind of merger/acquisition with MP makes no sense IMO. Many, myself included, have said that Lynas needs ROW competition to avoid the stigma of monopoly operator. MP is just the kind of competition that suits Lynas best. Ragnarolf summarised the void between the companies well I'll just add a couple more: HRE: we have them (Duncan) at about the amounts needed to balance our NdPr in high end magnetic applications. MP have them in far lower amounts (as a portion of their NdPr). ROW Markets: We have Japan and the US are wooing us. Out engagement and credibility in ROW markets is unique. MP send their stuff to China for separation. Actually not quite true; they did separate 50t of NdPr recently that may be up to spec.
If Lynas want to buy them let's wait for them to go broke again; might not take long.
