Are they referring to a 'new' rare earth project in the same area?

just wow really - rare earth in Malaysia is a touchy enough subject due to the Bukit Merah, can't even fathom why anyone would think it's a good idea to return to the same area to start a new rare earth project, given that there's probably still people living in the area that were personally impacted from the last mess.

If Mr Wong's not in jail anytime soon and wants to go somewhere where he guaranteed public support, this might be right up his alley
