https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/project/9821From what I can see there is major community opposition to this project, which may be a cause for concern and may delay the approval process. There were 671 public submissions in total, and over half of those were objections to the project. From the little reading that I did, the community is primarily concerned about the damage the mining operations would cause on the surrounding environment, including water bodies. It appears RRL (via EMM - the Planner) presented a submissions report in response to all the submissions in September 2021, including those submissions from government bodies such as the Office of Water and the NSW EPA.
I think the approval of McPhillamy's may rest solely with how RRL/EMM can prove that the public and govt body concerns are able to be controlled and mitigated. My experience in another ASX listed miner whom went through a similar process (with similar objections) is still unsuccessfull years after the planning approval process commencing. I am hoping the same is not the case for RLL, but given the world is becoming more and more environmentally concious, I definitely would'nt be backing on a swift and easy approval IMO.
