How hard is it for the Government to give Mr Porter some time off to clear his now legal matters and then reappoint him once he’s done? Wouldn’t it be in Mr. Porter’s best interest as it allows him undivided attention on that serious issue, as well as the government’s as it allows itself to hire someone who’s going to give his/her services without any personal distractions?
