On time on budget
In August 2012 construction started on major upgrade of the M5 motorway - the M5 West Widening project.
The project will:
add an extra lane in each direction over the 22 kilometre motorway, from Camden Valley Highway at the western end through to King Georges Road in the east
represent another major step in improving the Sydney motorway network
provide better access to Sydney Airport and Port Botany, and bring congestion relief to motorists in the south western suburbs
take approximately 2.5 years to complete
