Rumours are surfacing that Morgan Stanley in the US is in talk with Wachovia.
Morgan Stanley and MQG are both successful and profitable with no trading issues, yet they are getting hammered because of their reliance on the money market for their fundings.
Merging are happening all around the place, LLoyd with HBOS etc.. It seems banks that have lost the confidence of the market are seeking refuge from this debilitating panic.
Could MQG do the them and merge with a trading bank that has a large deposit base?
