Pesa, DARPA, was funding the mach 5/50 program, it was a listed program on their website, but after the bun fight about whether it was classified or not DARPA removed any reference to it's funding, but the mach 5/50 program heading remained on their website, but nothing could be referenced from it.
It is my understanding that the mach 5/50 program is or at least was funded up until recently by DARPA, they wwere paying the DSTO in Australia to develop it, the DSTO stated in a document not that long ago (maybe two years?) that they had repeatedly fired two 60 mm rounds in quick succession, which gave the mach 5/50 effect of 1600 meters a second or better, that would be the equivalent of a 240mm round in today's weaponry without the mach 5/50 effect.
I haven't seen anything to indicate this, but I think the mach 5/50 tech may have matured to a point where they can start making prototypes perhaps or maybe the real thing even, for I believe there may now be an urgent need for them, because if someone else has it then they may not have the means to defend against it?
If what I am thinking is correct? then Iran already has tested mach 5/50 themselves, and I would think the Chinese may have by now also, the US has stuffed around for years and if this technology has proliferated then they have absolutely no one else to blame but themselves.
