It's one thing to run fast, it's another thing entirely to run fast when the pressure is coming from all sides.
If one looks at fastest times against lowest wind assistance, then Yohan Blake has been quickest followed by Asafa Powell and Maurice Greene. There isn't a lot of Gold medal winners amongst the top 10 fastest in history and as we know, Powell went to water when the races that mattered were up for grabs.
Remember wind assistance of + 2m/s is considered null and void which puts Tyson Gays time right on the limit.
In the case of Gatlin, he has been consistently quick his whole career, and his doping violation was highly questionable.
Who risks doping themselves for a relay race at some obscure meet in Kansas????

You, sir/madam, are incorrigible.
Gatlin has apologised for his drug taking.

Today, at age 31, Phelps said he was "getting too old for this"
He should talk to Gatlin, doing his best times at 32 or 33.
Just observe what happens when Gatlin runs in Rio - let alone if he wins.
Byeee.
