Macmahon Holdings Seeks Around $84 Million

Mining contractor Macmahon Holdings Ltd. is poised to raise around 80 million Australian dollars (US$84.2 million) through a share issue underwritten by Macquarie Capital and Deutsche Bank , a person familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
The issue will be supported by the group’s largest shareholder Leighton Holdings Ltd. LEI.AU +1.38%, the person said. Leighton owns a 19.4% stake in Macmahon Holdings, which last traded at 26.5 cents a share.
Trading in Macmahon shares were halted Monday pending a capital raising, and the stock was subsequently suspended early Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Macmahon Holdings declined to comment. A Leighton spokesman didn’t immediately return a call for comment.
