1. Silver Recovery Plant
An EMEW® powder metal electrowinning plant on order from Electrometals Technologies
Limited, is on schedule and progress payments of 75% have been made. This EMEW®
plant, which should be delivered to site in July 2005 will produce high purity silver metal
powder, electrowon from pregnant leach solutions, flowing directly from the heap leach.
There will be no pre-concentration of this pregnant liquor, before the electrowinning
process. The silver powder will be automatically harvested, under the control of the
EMEW® computer (PLC). The spent solutions will be returned to the make up ponds for
recirculation onto the heap.
The 3 module (60 cells per module) plant has sufficient excess capacity to produce in
the order of 3.5 million ounces of silver powder per annum should expansion of the
operation be warranted.
