Yeah, I'd been thinking the same thing yesterday. A couple of articles in the AFR were kind of walking down that path also, albiet they didn't mention names.
Once you get away from people in the finance sector AMP actually still has a pretty good reputation, which when combined with Macquarie's actual ability to make things work could be quite a compelling tie-up.
The AMP Capital funds were always too big a conflict with the Macquarie funds, so that issue is rapidly disappearing.
Imagine the rush of advisors AMP would have coming back to it if it was backed by Macquarie.
