No offence but I can't stand it when someone compares a in production product versus a piece of scientific research in said field. No there is no threat of it being "undone" . Are you aware the first Li batteries were developed in the 70s? Now apply that timeline to sodium batteries? Now include the costs to overhaul every battery producing plant worldwide. And you will have to get it out of the development stages first.
I agree it is great technology, but if it does come to market in any form by 2020 even to a small degree, lithium will already be in over supply most likley.
