i think ANZ or NAB would have a go at AMP for the financial services.
I think MQG would be smart getting a smaller retail bank like SUN, selling off the insurance division to QBE and then going from there to build up a Macquarie retail bank.
AMP has no retail deposit base like SUN has, MQG could probably also buy BankWest from HBOS and then they would have a platform for building up their retail presence and being able to tackel the big retail banks.
MQG would have a much better balance sheet for future acquisitions as well if they could get a presence in retail banking, why else did they split the company up?
