We are most likely at the opposite ends of the political spectrum, but I agree with you on this.
Instead of wasting money on subs, why can’t we invest in some sort of useful manufacturing? Something like firefighting aircraft & related technology? There will certainly be no shortage of demand in the future (here & export). Would be good to slowly bring our economy into the 21st century. I think a hundred billion or two would probably go a fair way. Better use of the money than lining the pockets of US & UK military industry.
