A new case of mad cow disease, the third, has reportedly been found in an elderly cow, on a US farm in Alabama. This should hugely assist Australian exporters.

US exporters have been trying to re-enter the Japanese market, where their meat has been very sensibly banned by the Japanese who do not trust their lax standards. .. One of their recent shipments of veal apparently contained high risk spinal material.

Before their diseased meat was restricted from Japan some years ago, US meat exporters were forcing inroads into to the foriegn meat market there, that Australia had built up over many years, by buying up the wholesale distributors and locking Aussie meat out.
