Leaving aside the ethics of this leap into the darkness by the extreme Left - do they understand the concept of ethical anyway? - what remains is how it plays out politically.
Where does an even more polarised America move to as calls are made to harass the private lives of those working for the Administration?
There are two possibilities I see. The first is the coalition of voters who elected Trump will be strengthened in their resolve to oppose these tactics and will turn out in even greater numbers to put him back. It will not only be the rampant lunacy of the Left which motivates them of course. A number of other issues will figure prominently:
- the perceived improvement in the economy, illusory though that might be
- the trade campaign to bring back jobs
- the move towards rapprochement in Korea,
or in fact simply the perception that Trump has moved to deliver on almost every campaign promise he made.
The other possibility though is war weariness. The unending deluge of anti-Trump propaganda and action from the dedicated progs & globalists may just wear the voter down. He might simply throw in the towel and say Go ahead then, f*** everything up, you will anyway.
Difficult to judge on that. There is some evidence that the audiences for the MSM arm of the Left continues to shrink so that their unending campaigns may in fact have little impact in the end.
