It has happened to me and I have rang and asked how come my order to buy/sell went through when I was not at the top and that's the answer I got.
Am I 100% sure? No, not when itr comes to trading rules. It is mewrely my understanding.
Last year when CER was at 10.5-11 cents bid and offer, at 4pm when the market ticked over to pre-open I decided to buy and put in an order at 11 cents thinking correctly that since the best offer was at 10.5 cents that I wouild go straight to the top of the queue. Well that's correct....except my trade did not go through at 4:10 because someone put in an oder in pre-open at 11.5 cents. THe after market auction last price was still 11 cents where someting like a million shares got traded at 11 cents but I missed out because someone had their order at 11.5 cents to buy....and they still only paid 11 cents.
