Not quite right invest4it.
Check calorific values and PH differentials between Lignite, and Lignite's rare cousin Leonardite.
Yes I know whom it was named after and why.
Oxidisation is a function of thermal value.
The higher the oxidisation, the lower the calorific value.
The higher the PH the greater the price discount when used for steaming.
You are missing one very commercially valid point here.
Leonardite is worth much much more per tonne than is Lignite proper. So why would political or enviro certification entities support inappropriate exploitation of such a rare global resource ?
Their are trillions of tonnes of commercially available lignite on the planet in many many hundreds of known reserves,,,, but only 3 commercial & strategic reserves of leonardite are known to exist.
Maddingley has been marked for ages now as an Australian strategic reserve.
But it's only a small formation,,, so just exactly what does the Govt mean when it states Maddingley is a strategic reserve.
Are you saying the Govt were never briefed that the reserve is leonardite ?
Mining of a leonardite formation to burn, would be like a Govt taking an initiative to convert the federal fleet of motor vehicles to lpg, then running them on premium gasoline, or even worse,,, sticking diesel in the gas tank..
Yes in this case,,, I go with what all encyclopedia and all mining atlas stats state about leonardite, in favour of your alternative cheers.
