While I'm against Govt handouts, when the government forces everyone to close down and stay at home, what would the economy have looked like on the other side without the govt handouts? We can argue about whether or not lockdowns was the right policy but there was no choice but to support people/business when the lockdowns were chosen as the strategy, without that support many more businesses would have gone bust and we'd probably still be in a major recession now
