An in depth, two part, article by local journalist Sarmiento. Note that IMO, this journalist is normally fairly neutral in his coverage of Tampakan but bias to the reader here is somewhat negative, which possibly just reflects sentiment regarding the administrative quagmire SMI currently finds itself and recent on site violence.

The big mining companies, which obviously includes Xstrata, are at the cutting edge of developing protocols for impact management and stakeholder engagement. But the issues with Tampakan don't follow any formulas and at every twist and turn the complexities seem to get more entangled.

Hope is somewhat deprived when the only solution offered in the article comes from the Sth Cot Vice Governor via a naive suggestion to develop the mine by underground methods.
