Two pads, cream applied, one rubbed with finger, the other with the device. Then pat a tissue on the pads to see what comes off. The finger applied pad leaves a moist stain, while the Magnemask applied pad shows dry (all the cream was absorbed). P&G have really hit on a winning demo to show the power of both devices.
