Duicorp - Thanks for the reply and I do have some of the things you mentioned in place which cut last years tax bill down to about half of the maximum rate - but theres always room for improvement.

One strategy which I like is to put money into tree farms which gives a 48% tax break on invested funds in the year of investment and then a nice cash flow when the trees are harvested in 10 or 11 years. I reckon tree farm returns are streets ahead of DIY superannuation investments where there are ever increasing administration hassles and manipulation by the government of the day.
