Regardless of Magnum's endgame , the scenario where Magnum secures AQO at a premium capital-sapping price but another party builds a key stake in NSE could complicate Magnum's strategy, Moreso, even, if DLS is successful, & a third party helps itself to loose NSE stock.  The 83% of NSE that Magnum does not hold could become key to control of the joint AQO/NSE acreage.  Magnum will not want to have its current seeming control of the 52.5% that NSE holds, watered down. Particular loss-of-face if the fight becomes dirty..er
