A great deal of R and D work has and is being done to develop magnesium battery technology.  Toyota and Pellion are two companies involved with Pellion saying they have produced magnesium batteries for evalution by others.

The Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR) has set itself the task of over a five year period increasing battery density by a factor of five and lowering costs by five; a massive task.

One of the aims of many battery companies is to develop solid electrolytes.

The following link discusses a recent breakthrough involving a material called magnesium scandium selenide spinel.

From way back Magontec has been involved in the production of various magnesium alloys so the company might be well placed in this space.

Be interesting to see if the company has anything to say about this?
