Scrimshaw had an injury during the match. Hawthorn was always in my opinion up for a harder year this year due to having to play the top sides twice. They started really well so they have a bank of wins which is great for them. Sides can definitely go through these patches where they adjust to the harder competition they are seeing but then come out later on better for it.

I watched the Eagles Wafl match yesterday to see how our new player McCarthy (mid-season draft from Richmond VFL side) played, and he seemed very quick and had 26 possessions. Good disposal as well. I thought they could have given him the ball more as he was getting himself into the right positions. Maybe competition is hot for the young guys even though our league side is still developing although it could have just been they are all young and they missed him.

The feeling i had from the match was that there were a lot of very young players, but Jobe Shanahan looks like a real prospect for the Eagles. He is huge and taller than i expected. I know he was highly touted in last year's draft but from what i saw in pre-draft videos he was solid, but he looked like he is at least 6 foot 8 inches to me and still has to build his bulk. Looks like a great prospect.

Luko Greggo looks really good as well. Sort of reminds me of Shannon Hurn. Tom Gross played really well and once he grows up a bit could be a star.

Campbell Chesser played his first match back from injury and i think he will be back in the league side soon.

    Dockers were very solid yesterday.
