I'm not sure that the timing of the announcement was bad. If it had been announced earlier in the day if would now be gone from the front screens of those doing research over night/weekend. Having been announced later it will front and foremost on the screens of CommSec et al. This could give time for some to delve deeper and find value in the remaining assets they would otherwise have missed. I guess next week will tell.
