Jaguar has a carbon footprint of 4.69 tonnes CO2 per tonne nickel equivalent produced, at least theoretically at this stage. The only projects within cooee of this are Vale’s Canadian east coast operations- Voisey Bay and Long Harbour with 4.4/tpt and now their developing Benancour project of 4.3tpt CO2. That compares with the Nickel Institute average for Class 1 nickel of 13 tonnes CO2 equivalent and 45 tonnes for Class 2.
Clearly Jag is in rarefied air in terms of green credentials which any conscientious oem would be eager to hang their hat on for market penetration into Europe or the US. Tick tock just a matter of time for until parties involved tilt their hands to the spectators and speculators
