To my mind in a year of off field dramas the worst was the Didak affair. Especially the way the Colingwood admin handled it.
This goes to an earlier point about football not being so serious etc.
Here was a club that had previously suspended three players for visiting the parent of a fellow player and breaching, by 20 odd minutes a curfew (returning sober), asserting that "we don't take the easy options at Collingwood" (McGuire). They didn't suspend the guy who if he had of reported the crime he was a frist hand witness a live may have been saved.
The correct reponse for Collingwood would have been to suspend Didak for two weeks OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE FAMILY of the slain man. It was disgusting that C'wood put the team's prospects ahead of that. That was obscene. Yet we get people going on and on about the WCE yet Collingwood got away with that.
