ASX ANNOUNCEMENT
ALCASTON DEFINES SIGNIFICANT GOLD AND COPPER TARGETS IN FIJI
Recent mapping and rock chip sampling conducted by Alcaston at the
Kingston Mine prospect within its Sabeto project in Fiji has outlined a
number of exciting new gold and copper targets.
The mapping has resulted in a new geological interpretation for the
significant gold and copper mineralisation in the historical Kingston Mine
area. The mineralisation is now interpreted to be hosted in a swarm of
silicified porphyry dykes.
Significant new gold and copper rock chip results were obtained from five
different dykes. These include channel rock chip results up to 2.5 m @ 4.05
g/t gold and 1.62% copper; 4m @ 3.10 g/t gold and 2.21% copper; and 8.2 m
@ 0.68 g/t gold and 1.48% copper; and grab rock chip results up to 19.85 g/t
gold and 1.58% copper; 4.28 g/t gold and 1.22 % copper; and 4.05 g/t gold
and 1.62% copper.
The Directors of Alcaston Mining NL (“Alcaston”) are pleased to announce that recent rock
chip sampling and mapping at the Sabeto project, in Fiji, had outlined a number of
significant new copper and gold targets. This discovery adds to the prospectivity of the
Sabeto project which also hosts a number of excellent gold targets, that have previously
been identified by Alcaston.
The mapping has resulted in a new geological interpretation for the significant gold and
copper mineralisation in the historical Kingston Mine area. The mineralisation is now
interpreted to be hosted in a swarm of north-northeast trending silicified porphyry dykes.
The dyke swarm covers an area of at least 800m x 400m. Coincident gold and copper soil
anomalies covers roughly the same area. Dykes generally range in width from 1 – 5m. At
least seven different dykes were mapped on road exposures and in old workings during
the recent work program. Many more are thought to exist beneath shallow scree and soil
cover. Where exposed dykes are generally spaced between 1 – 10m apart.
Significant new gold and copper rock chip results were obtained from five different dykes.
These include channel rock chip results up to 2.5 m @ 4.05 g/t gold and 1.62% copper;
4m @ 3.10 g/t gold and 2.21% copper; and 8.2 m @ 0.68 g/t gold and 1.48% copper;
and grab rock chip results up to 19.85 g/t gold and 1.58% copper; 4.28 g/t gold and
1.22 % copper; and 4.05 g/t gold and 1.62% copper. All samples are also anomalous in
silver.
Historically a number of significant gold, copper and silver assays have been recorded
from the mineralised dykes in the Kingston Mine area. At Kingston Mine small scale
production commenced in about 1908 on a single mineralised dyke. Total production
Page 2 of 3
records are not available but an individual parcel of “bornite ore” between five and seven
tonnes was shipped to Australia and returned 84.15 g/t gold, 33.9% copper and 130.05
g/t silver. Subsequently a picked parcel of ore returned 176.27 g/t gold, 40.6% copper
and 130.05 g/t silver. Production was from an 8.2m adit, a 14.6m shaft and a 9.1m drive.
Many anomalous rock chip samples have been recorded. A channel rock chip sample
taken by Pan Continental across another dyke returned 11m @ 4.45 g/t gold (no copper
assays were recorded). Alcaston has previously recorded a grab rock chip sample up to
16.05 g/t gold, 7.53% copper, 4.9 g/t silver.
Past drilling at Kingston Mine has not adequately tested the mineralised dykes. Most
drilling was only shallow and was oriented incorrectly. Early drill holes were not assayed
for gold. One of the few holes that was correctly oriented was KRC3 drilled by Pan
Continental in 1986. Despite very poor sample recoveries and a 2m assay interval, this
hole returned an intercept of 60m @ 0.73 g/t gold (0 – 60m), including 10m @ 1.02 g/t
gold (4 – 14m) and 12m @ 1.29 g/t gold (44 – 56m) under scree and soil cover. No
copper assays were reported. Given that most of the gold-bearing epithermal veins in the
district are only 1 – 5m thick this broad zone of gold anomalism represents a priority target
area for Alcaston.
The mineralised dyke swarm at Kingston Mine is a priority drilling target for Alcaston,
which will now undertake a detailed mapping and sampling program at the Kingston Mine
prospect to more accurately define the extent of the mineralised dykes in preparation for a
drilling program planned for September 2006. The results of the mapping and sampling
will be integrated with a detailed aeromagnetic and radiometric geophysical survey
recently completed by Alcaston over much of the Sabeto project area.

Yours faithfully
