Certainly, it's good news. The Tuareg insurgents have for some time been supported by less than attractive allies. No surprise there.
If anything, talk of al Qaeda provides a perfect opportunity for a more coordinated global response. As has been stated many times, the West will not allow another jihadist launch pad to be established.
All in all, the trouble is a long way from Syama and highly unlikely to pose any material threat to its operation.
