As you say mostly equipment is permanently connected to the B/B system to either save a few cents or laziness
Even before the internet security had to be considered, but now you can sack a couple of people and allow the rest to sit in cozy offices rather than actually work so security is secondary
I always laugh when I see films depicting a cyber attack and they are all rushing around like chooks with their heads cut off but no one pulls out the internet connection or turns the wifi off
Of course that is just a film but many of our leaders think the same way
